I came to the United Kingdom in early 90's to pursue a BA & MA degree in fashion designer and marketing at the American College for the Applied Arts London (ACL) (which in recent years changed its name to the American Intercontinental University AIU). After completing my studies I worked with several internationally renowned British fashion houses where I gained a vast amount of experience in the industry to aid the development of my own label. However, Fashion is not my only passion...
Following the birth of my first son I took a well-earned break from the fashion industry to focus on family life. During this period I got involved in the local parents groups... One thing led to another and before I realised it, I became actively involved in Community Development work. I enjoy meeting people and working with diverse communities. So in addition to building by fashion label this new found passion led me to do further training and study in Community Development.
I have over 15 years’ experience of working with diverse communities in the London Borough of Camden. On Projects ranging from Community research projects, including refugees and homelessness. Over the years I have participated in several Camden projects consulting with residents on a wide variety of issues. These were both Paid and unpaid opportunities. Projects range from facilities for under 5’s, safeguarding, homelessness, NHS/health services, Education and volunteering for the Local Authority.
As a Parent Consultant I support local families of children from 0 - 19 years and up to 25 years for those with disabilities or additional needs. I coordinate and facilitate meetings and since 2006 chair the CCPE (Camden Celebrating Parents Event) I am a representative and board member for many services linked to education in Camden:
